წმიდა მელქისედექ კათოლიკოს-პატრიარქი, საქართველოს სამოციქულო, ავტოკეფალურ ეკლესიას მესაჭეობდა დაახ. 1010-1030 წლებში, მეფეების ბაგრატ III-ის, გიორგი I-ისა და ბაგრატ IV-ის დროს. წმიდანმა კათოლიკოსის ტახტი დაიკავა კათოლიკოს სვიმეონის გარდაცვალების შემდეგ. წმიდა მელქისედექი არის საქართველოს სამოციქულო ეკლესიის პირველი მამათმთავარი, რომელიც კათოლიკოს-პატრიარქის ტიტულით მოიხსენიება.
