ღირსი გიორგი მაშენებელი იყო ათონის ივერთა მონასტრის მესამე იღუმენი. როგორც ათონელ წმიდა მამათა ცხოვრების აღმწერელი გიორგი მთაწმინდელი (ხს. 27 ივნისს) მოგვითრობს, მონასტრის პირველმა იღუმენმა, ღირსმა იოანემ (ხს. 12 ივლისს), თავის შვილს, ღირს ექვთიმეს (ხს. 13 მაისს) გადააბარა წინამძღვრობა და თან დაუბარა: „შემდგომად თავისა... რაჲთა გიორგის დაუტეოს მამობაჲ, რომელ იგი თვისივე იყო მათი, კაცი სახელოვანი და ფრთხილი ჴორციელთა საქმეთა ზედა“. ზოგი ცნობით, გიორგი იოანეს ძმისშვილი იყო.
