ღირსი იოანე შავთელ-გაენათელი (XIII) - „კაცი ყოვლად განთქმული და საკვირველი მოღვაწებათა შინა და ლექსთა გამომთქმელი“ მოღვაწეობდა თამარ მეფის დროს. ის მისი ეპოქის ერთ-ერთი უდიდესი პოეტი, ფილოსოფოსი და ცნობილი მქადაგებელი იყო. მისი შემოქმედებიდან ჩვენამდე მოღწეულია ცნობილი ოდა „აბდულ-მესია“ და „გალობანი ვარძიის ღვთისმშობელისანი“. მან ღრმა მოხუცებულობამდე მიაღწია და მშვიდობით აღესრულა.
