წმიდა მოწამე ივლიტა ცხოვრობდა კაბადოკიის კესარიაში იმპერატორ დიოკლეტიანეს (284-305) დროს. ერთ-ერთმა წარმართმა მიითვისა მისი მამული და, როცა წმიდანმა სასამართლოს ძალით მოინდომა კუთვნილი ქონების დაბრუნება, უღმრთომ განაცხადა, ივლიტა ქრისტიანია და ვერანაირი კანონი მას ვერ დაიცავსო. მსაჯულმა ნეტარს შესთავაზა, ჯერ კერპებისთვის შეეწირა მსხვერპლი, შემდეგ კი სამართლიანობის აღდგენაზეც ეზრუნათ; მაგრამ წმიდა ივლიტამ მტკიცე უარი განაცხადა მზაკვრული პირობის შესრულებაზე. ქრისტეს ერთგულებისთვის ნეტარი დედა 304 (ან 305) წელს კოცონზე დაწვეს. მოწამეობრივი აღსასრულიდან სამოცდაათი წლის შემდეგ წმიდა მღვდელმთავარმა, ბასილი დიდმა შექმნა სახოტბო სიტყვა წმიდანის განსადიდებლად.
