წმიდა მოწამე დასი დუნაისპირა ქალაქ დოროსპოლში დაიბადა. ამ დროს II საუკუნის ბოლოსა და III საუკუნის დასაწყისში, მთელ იმპერიაში ფართოდ იყო გავრცელებული ქრისტიანული სარწმუნოება. წმიდა დასი თანაუგრძნობდა ქრისტიანებს, მაგრამ მის ირგვლივ არსებული წარმართული გარემო საშუალებას არ აძლევდა მონათლულიყო და განცხადებულად ეღიარებინა ჭეშმარიტი ღმერთი.
