წმიდა მოწამე მარკიანე ლიკაონიის იკონიაში დაიბადა. თავისი მხურვალე ქადაგებით მან სიჭაბუკეშივე ბევრი წარმართი მოაქცია ქრისტეს სჯულზე. ამისთვის კერპმსახურებმა წმიდანი აწამეს, შემდეგ კი კაბადოკიაში გაგზავნეს მმართველ პერენიუსთან. უსჯულო ხელისუფალი ხან ლიქნით, ხან მუქარით ცდილობდა ჭაბუკის გადაცდენას მაცხოვნებელი გზიდან, მაგრამ იგი მედგრად აღიარებდა ქრისტეს და ამხელდა უსულო კერპების მსასოებელი მმართველის უგნურებას. განრისხებულმა პერენიუსმა ბრძანა, სასტიკად ეწამებინათ ნეტარი მარტვილი, მაგრამ სატანჯველებმა ვერ მოდრიკა უფლის რჩეული. ბოლოს უღმრთოებმა მარკიანეს თავის მოკვეთა მიუსაჯეს (+258).
