მღვდელმოწამე თეოდორე, კვირელი ეპისკოპოსი იმპერატორ დიოკლეტიანეს (284-305) დროს მოღვაწეობდა. იგი მეტად დახელოვნებული იყო კალიგრაფიაში და ტაძრებისთვის საღვთისმსახურო წიგნებს წერდა. ღვიძლმა შვილმა, ლეუსმა მამა ოლქის მმართველ დიგნიანთან დაასმინა - სახლში ქრისტიანულ წიგნებს ინახავს, ხალხს წარმართული ღვთაებების შეურაცხყოფას ასწავლის და ქრისტეს სარწმუნოებას უქადაგებსო. მღვდელმთავარი თეოდორე სამსჯავროზე წარადგინეს. მსაჯულმა ნეტარს მოსთხოვა წიგნები მისთვის ჩაებარებინა, მაგრამ წმიდანმა უარი განაცხადა. აღმსარებელი სასტიკად სცემეს რკინის ჯოხებით, მაგრამ წამებამ კიდევ უფრო გაამხნევა იგი. მარტვილს ენა მოაჭრეს, შემდეგ კი საპყრობილეში ჩააგდეს, სადაც დაასრულა კიდეც ამქვეყნიური სიცოცხლე და ნეტარ მარადისობას შეერთო (+310). სიკვდილით დასაჯეს აგრეთვე დედები: ლუკია, იეროია და ღირსი თეოდორეს ხელით ნათელღებული ყველა ქრისტიანი.
