ღირსმოწამე ანასტასი სპარსი ქურუმის ვაჟი იყო. წარმართობაში მას მაგუნდატი ერქვა და სპარსეთის მეფის, ხოსროვ II-ის ლაშქარში მსახურობდა, ხოსროვმა 614 წელს დაამარცხა ბერძნები, წმიდა ქალაქი იერუსალიმი გაძარცვა და ურიცხვ დავლასთან ერთად უდიდესი სიწმიდე - უფლის ცხოველმყოფელი ჯვარიც წაიღო სპარსეთში. ჯვრის ძალით აღსრულებული უდიდესი სასწაულები თავზარს სცემდა სპარსელებს. ჭაბუკი მაგუნდატი აენთო სურვილით, დაწვრილებით შეეტყო ყველაფერი ამ უდიდესი სიწმინდის შესახებ და მალე გაიგო, რომ მასზე ადამიანთა ხსნისთვის განკაცებული მაცხოვარი ჯვარცმულა. ქალაქ ქალდეკონში, სადაც დროებით დაბანაკდა ხოსროვის ლაშქარი, ცნობისწადილით აღძრული მეომარი გაეცნო ქრისტიანულ სარწმუნოებას, ნათელ-იღო ანასტასის სახელით, შემდეგ კი მონაზვნობა შეიმოსა და შვიდი წელი გაატარა ღვთივსათნო მოღვაწეობით იერუსალიმის ერთ-ერთ მონასტერში.
