წმიდა ილარიონ მეგლინელი დიდგვაროვანი კონსტანტინოპოლელი ბერძენი იყო. იგი თვრამეტი წლის ასაკში განერიდა ამსოფლიურ სიამეებს და ბერად შედგა. მალე ნეტარი მამა კეთილმსახური და მკაცრი, ასკეტური ცხოვრებისთვის სავანის წინამძღვრად აკურთხეს. წმიდანი გულმოდგინედ ზრუნავდა მისთვის მინდობილი სულების ხსნისთვის და ძმებს მოუწოდებდა, გაფრთხილებოდნენ საცხოვნებლად მონიჭებულ ძვირფას დროს. 1134 წელს უფლის რჩეულს მეგლინის ეპისკოპოსად დაასხეს ხელი. ამ ხარისხში მან ბევრი იღვაწა იმ ხანებში ბულგარეთში ფართოდ გავრცელებული ბოგომილების და მონოფიზიტთა მწვალებლური სწავლებების სამხილებლად. წმიდა მღვდელმთავარი 1164 წელს გარდაიცვალა. მისი უხრწნელი ნაწილები 1206 წელს მეგლინიდან ქალაქ ტირნოვოში გადაასვენეს. 21 ოქტომბერს ეკლესია სწორედ ამ მოვლენას იხსენიებს.
