ღირსი პარასკევა სერბი, კონსტანტინოპოლის მახლობელ სოფელში დაიბადა კეთილმსახურ ბულგარელთა ოჯახში. ერთხელ, ღვთისმსახურების დროს, ასულის გული შეუძრა სახარების სიტყვებმა: „რომელსა ჰნებავს შემოდგომად ჩემდა, უვარ-ყავნ თავი თჳსი და აღიღენ ჯუარი თჳსი და შემომიდეგინ მე“ (მთ. 16,24). ამის შემდეგ მან თავისი ქონების გლახაკებისთვის დარიგება დაიწყო. მშობლების გარდაცვალების შემდეგ ნეტარი განერიდა წუთისოფლის ამაოებას, მონაზვნად აღიკვეცა და ღრმა მოხუცებულობამდე იორდანეს უდაბნოში მოსაგრეობდა. სიკვდილამდე ორი წლით ადრე წმიდა დედა ანგელოზის მინიშნებით სამშობლოში დაბრუნდა და წმიდა მოციქულთა ტაძართან დამკვიდრდა, სადაც აღესრულა კიდეც მშვიდობით XI საუკუნის I ნახევარში (1238 ან 1221 წელს).
