წმიდა დიდმოწამე ქრისა (ზლატა) მოგლენელი, დაიბადა და ცხოვრობდა ბულგარეთში. იმ დროს მისი სამშობლო თურქების უღელქვეშ იტანჯებოდა. სიყმაწვილიდანვე ზლატა საოცრად მტკიცე ხასიათით, ქრისტესადმი ურყევი სასოებით, კეთილგონიერებითა და მშვენიერებით გამოირჩეოდა. მათ სოფელში დამკვიდრებული ერთი თურქი დიდხანს ეცადა, მოეხიბლა ქალწული და ისლამზე მოექცია, მაგრამ ვერც შეგონებებით, ვერც მუქარითა და ვერც საშინელი წამებით, რომელიც მრავალი თვის მანძილზე გრძელდებოდა, ვერ მოდრიკა მხნე აღმსარებელი.
