წმიდა მიხეილი - კიევის პირველი მიტროპოლიტი, კონსტანტინოპოლის პატრიარქმა ნიკოლოზ ქრიზოვერგმა გაგზავნა რუსეთში საეკლესიო საქმეთა მოსაწყობად. ერთი ცნობით, იგი მღვდელმსახურთა დასთან ერთად მოციქულთასწორი ვლადიმირის (ხს. 15 ივლისს) საცოლეს, მეფისწულ ანას ჩაჰყვა საბერძნეთიდან 988 წელს. სხვა ცნობით კი ვლადიმირის ნათლისღებიდან ერთი წლის შემდეგ, 989 წელს ჩავიდა თავრიდის ხერსონესის (თანამედროვე ყირიმის) დედაქალაქ კორსუნში (ხერსონში), კიევში გაემგზავრა წმიდა მთავართან ერთად, მონათლა მისი თორმეტი ძე და კიევის მთელი მოსახლეობა.
