წმიდა მოწამენი: ალექსანდრე, ალფესი, ზოსიმე, მარკოზ მწყემსი, ნიკონი, ნეონი, ილიოდორე და სხვანი მცირე აზიის სხვადასხვა ადგილებში ეწამნენ იმპერატორ დიოკლეტიანეს (284-305) ზეობისას. წმიდა მარკოზ მწყემსი პისიდიის ანტიოქიის მიდამოებში შეიპყრეს. ოცდაათი მეომარი, რომელთაც მოწამე დაატუსაღეს, მისი ქადაგებით ჭეშმარიტ სარწმუნოებაზე მოექცა, რის გამოც მათ ნიკეაში თავები მოკვეთეს, წმიდა მარკოზი კი საწამებლად გადასცეს.
