წმიდა მოწამე თეოდოტია, წარმოშობით კაბადოკიელი, ქალაქ ნიკეაში ეწამა იმპერატორ ალექსანდრე სევერუსის (222-235) დროს. როცა კაბადოკიის მმართველად ვინმე სიმბლიკიოსი დანიშნეს, მას მოახსენეს, რომ მდიდარი ქალბატონი თეოდოტია ქრისტეს აღიარებდა. მმართველმა თავისთან მოუხმო მაცხოვრის მსასოებელს და დიდხანს ეცადა ჭეშმარიტი სარწმუნოებისგან მის გადადრეკას. უსჯულო ხელისუფალი მალე დარწმუნდა, რომ ვერანაირი შეგონება ნაყოფს ვერ გამოიღებდა და მხნე აღმსარებელი ჯალათებს გადასცა. თეოდოტია დაკიდეს, სასტიკად სცემეს და საპყრობილეში ჩააგდეს. რვა დღის შემდეგ, როცა წმიდანი ხელახლა გაიყვანეს საწამებლად, მას გადატანილი სატანჯველების კვალი ოდნავღა აჩნდა. სიმბლიკიოსის ბრძანებით გახურებულ ქურაში შეაგდეს მოწამე.
