წმიდა მოწამე პელაგია ქალწული, დიდებული გვარის ჩამომავალი, ანტიოქიაში ცხოვრობდა და მღვდელმოწამე ლუკიანეს (ხს. 15 ოქტომბერს) მოწაფე იყო. როცა, ქრისტიანთა დევნის დროს, მხედრები წმიდანის შესაპყრობად მივიდნენ, იგი მხოლოდ თხუთმეტი წლისა იყო. ნეტარმა მათ სთხოვა, ცოტა ედროვათ, თავად კი ლოცვად დადგა, უსჯულოთა ხელყოფისაგან დაცვა გამოითხოვა უფლისგან, შემდეგ კი სახლის ერდოდან გადმოეშვა და ადგილზევე განუტევა სული. ეს მოხდა IV საუკუნეში, როგორც ვარაუდობენ, 303 წელს.
