ნეტარი ისიხიოს ქორებელი ათონის ერთ-ერთ მონასტერში მოღვაწეობდა VI საუკუნეში და თავდაპირველად გულმოდგინებით არ გამოირჩეოდა. მძიმე ავადმყოფობის შედეგად იგი გარდაიცვალა, მაგრამ ღვთის საკვირველი განგებულებით, ერთ საათში გაცოცხლდა. ამის შემდეგ ნეტარი თავის სენაკში გამოიკეტა და თორმეტი წელი სრულ მარტოობაში დაჰყო; იკვებებოდა მხოლოდ პურითა და წყლით, გამუდმებით ლოცულობდა და სინანულის ცრემლებს ღვრიდა. მიცვალების წინ წმიდანმა შემოკრებილ ბერებს უთხრა: „შემინდეთ, ძმებო. ვისაც სიკვდილის ხსოვნა აქვს, არასოდეს შესცოდავს“. ნეტარი მამის საკვირველმა მდუმარებამ ათონის მთაზე მდუმარე ისიხასტების მთელ სკიტს დაუდო სათავე.
