წმიდა ქალწულმოწამენი ენაფა, ვალენტინა და პავლა 308 წელს, იმპერატორ მაქსიმიანე II გალერიუსის (305-311) ზეობისას ეწამნენ ქრისტესთვის. წმიდა ენაფა ქალაქ ღაზის (სამხრეთ პალესტინია) მკვიდრი იყო, წმიდა ვალენტინა - პალესტინის კეისარიისა, პავლა კი კეისარიის მახლობლად ცხოვრობდა. სამსჯავროზე, მმართველ ფირმილიანესთან პირველად ენაფა წარადგინეს. მან ახოვნად აღიარა ქრისტე, რისთვისაც საშინლად გვემეს, შემდეგ კი ძელზე მიაკრეს და წვერგამახული იარაღებით აწამეს. ღმერთების უპატივცემულობისათვის მსჯავრდადებული ვალენტინა წარმართულ ტაძარში მიიყვანეს ცრუ-ღმერთებისთვის ძღვენის შესაწირად, მაგრამ მან გაბედულად ესროლა ქვა სამსხვერპლოს, მასზე დაგზნებულ ცეცხლს კი ზურგი აქცია. ქრისტეს მხნე აღმსარებელი დაუნდობლად სცემეს, შემდეგ კი წმიდა ენაფასთან ერთად მახვილით მოკლეს.
