ღირსი ევფროსინე ალექსანდრიელი V საუკუნის დასაწყისში დაიბადა ქალაქ ალექსანდრიაში. იგი დიდგვაროვანი და მდიდარი მშობლების ერთადერთი ასული იყო. ქალწულს დედა ადრე გარდაეცვალა და მისი აღზრდის მთელი სიმძიმე მამას - პაფნუტის დააწვა. ღრმადმორწმუნე, კეთილმსახური ქრისტიანი - პაფნუტი ხშირად დადიოდა ხოლმე მონასტერში და სულიერებაში მეტად წარმატებულ მის იღუმენს რჩევა-დარიგებებს ეკითხებოდა. როცა ევფროსინეს თვრამეტი წელი შეუსრულდა, მამამ მისი გათხოვება გადაწყვიტა და კვლავ სავანეს მიაშურა, რომ წმიდა ბერისგან კურთხევა ეთხოვა ასულის ქორწინებაზე. წინასწარცნობის მადლით დაჯილდოებული მოსაგრე გაესაუბრა ევფროსინეს და ასე დალოცა: „ღმერთმან უმჯობესი სულისა შენისაჲ ყავნ, შვილო, და შიშისა მისისა მიმართ განგამტკიცენ და ღირს-გყვენ განმზადებულთა კეთილთა სათნოთა მისთათჳს“.
