წინასწარმეტყველი ზაქარია მანგლისმხილველი იყო ერთი ათორმეტი მცირე წინასწარმეტყველთაგანი. 70 წელი იმყოფებოდნენ იუდეველები ბაბილონის ტყვეობაში, მაგრამ ბოლოს მეფე კვიროსმა გაანთავისუფლა ისინი და ნაბუქოდონოსორის მიერ იერუსალიმის ტაძრის დანგრევის შემდეგ მიტაცებული სიწმიდეები დაუბრუნა. დაბრუნებიდან მეშვიდე თვეს იუდეველებმა დანგრეული სამსხვერპლო აღადგინეს, შემდეგ კი ტაძრის აღორძინებასაც შეუდგნენ. კეთილმსახური ადამიანები უხვ შემოწირულობებს აკეთებდნენ, მაგრამ ბოროტი ადამიანების, ავაზაკებისა და წარმართების მანქანებით მშენებლობა ჭიანურდებოდა. ისრაელში სარწმუნოებრივი სულისკვეთების განსახორციელებლად უფალმა მათ შორის ორი წინასწარმეტყველი - ანგია და ზაქარია გამოარჩია.
