ღირსი თეოფანე აღმსარებელი წარმართთა ოჯახში დაიბადა. მან სიჭაბუკეში ირწმუნა ქრისტე, მოინათლა და მშობლებისგან ფარულად მხცოვან განდეგილ ბერს მიაშურა. მოსაგრემ ყმაწვილს საღვთო წიგნების კითხვა და ბერული ცხოვრების წესები შეასწავლა. ხუთ წელიწადში იგი გარდაიცვალა და თეოფანემ ორმოცდათვრამეტი წელი სრულ მარტოობაში გაატარა განდეგილის მღვიმეში. შემდეგ წმიდანმა ქადაგება დაიწყო და მრავალი მოაქცია ჭეშმარიტ სარწმუნოებაზე. რომის იმპერატორის, კარუსის (282-283) ბრძანებით ღირსი მამა შეიპყრეს და აწამეს. აღმსარებელმა ახოვნად დაითმინა სატანჯველები და, ღვთის ნებით, ცოცხალი გადარჩა. გათავისუფლების შემდეგ იგი დაუბრუნდა მღვიმეს და კიდევ ჩვიდმეტი წელი დაჰყო იქ დაუცხრომელ ღვაწლში. დაახლოებით 300 წელს მან მშვიდობით შეჰვედრა სული უფალს.
