წმიდა მოწამე აკაკი (+303) დაიბადა კაბადოკიაში და იყო მარტისიის პოლკის ასისთავი. როცა იმპერატორ მაქსიმიან გალერიუსის (305-311) ბრძანებით დაიწყო ქრისტიანთა დევნა, მხედართმთავარმა თერმმა სათითაოდ დაკითხა თავისი ჯარისკაცები. წმიდა აკაკიმ მტკიცედ და საჯაროდ აღიარა ქრისტიანობა. თერმმა ის მთავარსარდალ ვივიანესთან გაგზავნა. ვივიანეს ბრძანებით წმიდა აკაკი სასტიკად აწამეს, შემდეგ მძიმე ბორკილები დაადეს და საკანში ჩაკეტეს. ცოტა ხნის შემდეგ მოწამე სხვა ქრისტიანებთან ერთად წაიყვანეს ბიზანტიაში. როცა ღამის გასათევად გაჩერდნენ, წმიდანმა მადლობა შესწირა უფალს წამებისათვის. ლოცვის დროს წმიდა მოწამეს ზეციდან ხმა მოესმა: „გაძლიერდინ, აკაკი!“ ეს ხმა სხვა პატიმრებმაც გაიგონეს და ირწმუნეს ქრისტე.
