ღირსი იერია დაიბადა და აღიზარდა წარმართულ ოჯახში. შემდეგ იგი რომაელი სენატორის მეუღლე გახდა, მაგრამ შვიდ თვეში დაქვრივდა. სირიის ქალაქ სევაპოლში მან შეიტყო, რომ ნიზიბიის მახლობლად, დედათა სავანეში ცხოვრობდა მკაცრი მოღვაწეობით განთქმული ახალგაზრდა მონაზონი თებრონია. მწირად გადაცმული იერია ესტუმრა ნეტარ დედას და მთელი ღამე საუბრობდა მასთან. შინ დაბრუნებული მომავალი წმიდანი მოინათლა და მშობლებსაც ჩააგონა, მიებაძათ მისთვის.
