წმიდა მოწამე თაიფალე და მისი და თიბეა (ანუ ბებეა) წარმართთა შორის ქრიატიანული სარწმუნოების გაბედული და წარმატებული ქადაგებისთვის აწამეს, ერთი ცნობით, ტრაიანეს (98-117), სხვა წყაროებით კი - ადრიანეს (117-138) მეფობაში. ხანგრძლივი და სასტიკი წამების შემდეგ წმიდა თაიფალე ხეზე დაკიდეს და გახერხეს, მისი და თიბეა კი ყელში შუბის დარტყმით მოკლეს (15 ოქტომბერს ეკლესია იხსენიებს წმიდანებს: სარვილეს და ბებეას. ვარაუდობენ, რომ ბებეა იგივე თაიფალეს და - თიბეაა; ზოგი სარვილეს თავად თაიფალესთან აიგივებს, სხვები კი თვლიან, რომ სარვილესა და ბებეასთან ერთად 15 ოქტომბრის წმიდანებს შორის თაიფალეს სახელი ცალკე უნდა იყოს ჩართული).
