წმიდა კალისტე, კონსტანტინეპოლელი პატრიარქი იმპერატორების იოანე კანტაკუზენის (1341-1355) და იოანე პალეოლოგის (1341-1376) მეფობაში მეთაურობდა კონსტანტინეპოლის ეკლესიას. წმიდა მამამ მოღვაწეობა ათონის მთაზე დაიწყო. საპატრიარქო ტახტზე იგი 1350 წელს აღასაყდრეს, მაგრამ ორ წელიწადში დაუტევა მღვდელმთავრის მძიმე ჯვარი და მდუმარების ღვაწლისთვის მის მიერვე დაარსებულ წმიდა მამანტის მონასტერს მიაშურა ტენოდოსში. შემდეგ ნეტარი კალისტე კვლავ დაუბრუნდა კათედრას. წმიდანი დაახლოებით, 1363 წელს გარდაიცვალა სერბეთში, სადაც იოანე პალეოლოგმა ელჩად გაგზავნა. მღვდელმთავარი კალისტე ცნობილია თავისი სასულიერო თხზულებებით.
