ღირსი ფანტინე საკვირველთმოქმედი კალაბრიაში დაიბადა. წმიდანი რვა წლის ასაკიდან მონასტერში იზრდებოდა. სიჭაბუკეში იგი უდაბნოებში მწირობდა და, სამოსის გარეშე დარჩენილი, ხშირად ოცი დღის მანძილზე საზრდელსაც არ ღებულობდა. ასეთ ღვაწლში გაატარა ღირსმა მამამ სამოცი წელი. სიცოცხლის მიმწუხრზე წმიდანმა თავი აარიდა სარკინოზებს და პელოპონესს მიაშურა მოწაფეებთან, ვიტალისა და ნიკიფორესთან ერთად. სახარების სწავლებით მან მოიარა კორინთო, ათონი, ლარისი და თესალონიკი, სადაც წმიდა დიდმოწამის, დიმიტრის (ხს. 26 ოქტომბერს) ნაწილებს სცა თაყვანი. უფლის სათნომყოფელი მამა ღრმა მოხუცებულობაში გარდაიცვალა, IX ს-ის ბოლოს ან X ს-ის დასაწყისში.
