მღვდელმოწამე ლუკიანე, რომელსაც წარმართობაში ლუკიუსი ერქვა, რომში ცხოვრობდა. იგი პავლე მოციქულმა მოაქცია ქრისტიანულ სარწმუნოებაზე და მანვე მონათლა. მოციქულთა თავის მოწამეობრივი აღსასრულის შემდეგ ლუკიანე ავრცელებდა ქრისტეს სწავლების ნათელს იტალიაში. ამ დროს რომში ჩამოვიდა პავლე მოციქულის მოწაფე დიონისე არეოპაგელი (ხს. 3 ოქტომბერს). წმიდა პაპმა კლიმენტიმ (ხს. 25 ნოემბერს) სთხოვა მას, თავისი ქადაგებით განემტკიცებინა დასავლეთ ქვეყნების ქრისტიანები და წარმართებშიც შეეტანა ქრისტეს ნათელი. თან გააყოლა ეპისკოპოსად ახალხელდასხმული წმიდა ლუკიანე, მაქსიანე ხუცესი, იულიანე დიაკონი, სატურნინი და მარკელინი.
