ღირსი ბესარიონ საკვირველთმოქმედი, მეგვიპტელი (IV-V) ახალგაზრდობაში მოინათლა, რის შემდეგაც ძალიან თავშეკავებულად ცხოვრობდა. საღვთო შურით აღძრულმა მამამ იერუსალიმის წმიდა ადგილები მოილოცა. იორდანის უდაბნოში ღირს გერასიმეს (ხს. 4 მარტს) ეწვია, მოინახულა სხვა წმიდა მამებიც და ყოველი მათგანისგან ის სათნოებანი შეითვისა, რომელშიც ისინი წარემატებოდნენ. ეგვიპტეში დაბრუნებული ბესარიონი ბერად აღიკვეცა და წმიდა ისიდორე პელუსიელის (ხს. 4 თებერვალს) მოწაფე გახდა. წმიდანმა მდუმარების აღთქმა დადო, საჭმელს კვირაში ერთხელ იღებდა, ზოგჯერ კი მთელი 40 დღე უჭმელ-უსმელი იყო. ერთხელ ლოცვაში ჩაძირული ღირსი მამა 40 დღის განმავლობაში განუძრევლად იდგა ფეხზე ისე, რომ არც საზრდელი მიუღია და არც ჩასძინებია.
