ღირსი თეოდორე მეუდაბნოე ცხოვრობდა VI საუკუნეში. მან ახალგაზრდობაში დატოვა ეს სოფელი და იორდანის უდაბნოში განმარტოვდა. წმიდანს უფლისგან სასწაულთქმედების მადლი მიენიჭა. ერთხელ კონსტანტინეპოლისკენ ხომალდით მგზავრობისას, ღირსი თეოდორეს ლოცვით ზღვიდან ამოღებული წყალი სასმელად ვარგისი გახდა და წყურვილი დაუოკა მის თანამგზავრებს. როცა მგზავრებმა ღირსი მამის მიმართ მადლიერების გამოხატვა დაიწყეს, წმიდა თეოდორემ მათ მიმართა: უფალმა მოწყალე თვალით მოხედა უწყლობით გათანგულ ადამიანებს და ამიტომ შეისმინა ჩემი ლოცვაო.
