წმიდა ნიკიტა, ქალკედონის ეპისკოპოსი (IX) VIII საუკუნის მეორე ნახევარში ცხოვრობდა. მას ღვთივსათნო ცხოვრებისათვის დაასხეს ხელი ქალკედონის ეპისკოპოსად. წმიდა ნიკიტა გულმოწყალებით გამოირჩეოდა; ზრუნავდა ქვრივებსა და ობლებზე, მხარში ედგა უსამართლოდ დაჩაგრულებს, ეხმარებოდა ღარიბებს. მისი სახლი მწირთა თავშესაფრად იყო ქცეული. ხატმბრძოლი ლეონ სომეხის (813-820) დროს წმიდანი თამამად ამხელდა ერეტიკოსებს. ამისთვის მრავალი დევნა დაითმიანა უსჯულო იმპერატორისა და მისი მიმდევრებისაგან. წმიდა აღმსარებელი გარდაიცვალა IX საუკუნის დასაწყისში. მის ნაწილებთან სასწაულებრივი კურნებები აღესრულებოდა. კონსტანტინეპოლელი პრესვიტერის იოსების მიერ დაწერილ კანონში მოიხსენიება წმიდა ნიკიტას ძმაც - წმიდა ეგნატე.
