ღირსი იოანე ფსიხაიტი, აღმსარებელი (IX) ცხოვრობდა VIII-IX საუკუნეთა მიჯნაზე. ის სიყრმეში აღიკვეცა ბერად ფსიხაიტის ლავრაში (კონსტანტინეპოლის გარეუბანში). წმიდა ცხოვრებისა და ფიცხელი მოღვაწეობისათვის ღირსმა მამამ ბოროტ სულთა განსხმისა და კურნების ნიჭი მიიღო. იმ დროს ხატმებრძოლობის ერესი მძვინვარებდა. წმიდა ხატთა თაყვანისმცემლებს სასტიკად დევნიდნენ. ღირსი იოანე დაიბარეს დაკითხვაზე და წმიდა ხატთა უარყოფა მოსთხოვეს. ქრისტეს მხნე აღმსარებელმა ამხილა ხატმბრძოლები და იმპერატორ ლეონ ისავრიელსაც (714-741) ერეტიკოსი უწოდა. ამისთვის წმიდანი გადაასახლეს. ხატმებრძოლთაგან დევნილი და შევიწროებული გადასახლებაში აღესრულა.
