ღირსი ემელიანე რომაელი იყო. ის სიბერემდე ცოდვებში ცხოვრობდა. ბოლოს მონანული მონასტერში წავიდა და ბერად აღიკვეცა. ღირსი ემილიანე გამოირჩეოდა უდრტვინველი მორჩილებით და მკაცრი მარხულობით. ღამ-ღამობით საიდუმლოდ მიდიოდა შორიახლო მდებარე გამოქვაბულში და მხურვალედ ლოცულობდა. ერთხელ იღუმენი ჩუმად გაჰყვა ბერს და ნახა, რომ იგი სინანულის ცრემლებით ალტობდა მიწას. უცებ ზეციდან გაისმა ხმა: „ემილიანე მოგეტევოს ცოდვანი შენნი“. ნანახით შეძრულმა იღუმენმა საცისკრო მსახურების შემდეგ ემილიანეს სთხოვა, ძმებისათვის გაენდო თავისი საიდუმლო. წმიდანმაც მოუთხრო სულიერ ძმებს ღვთის უსაზღვრო სახიერების შესახებ. იღუმენმა ბერებს უთხრა: „უფალს შეეძლო ემილიანესათვის ცოდვები გამოცხადების გარეშეც მიეტევებინა. მან თავისი ნება ხმით და ნათლით იმიტომ გააცხადა, რომ ჩვენც გვენახა ღვთის უსაზღვრო სიკეთე და სიყვარული წრფელად მონანულთა მიმართ“.
