მღვდელმოწამე თეოგენი მცირე აზიის ქალაქ პარიის ეპისკოპოსი იყო IV საუკუნის დასაწყისში. იმპერატორ ლიკინიუსის (307-324) დროს ტრიბუნმა ზალიკინტუსმა მოსთხოვა მას, ნებსით განეცხადებინა უარი მღვდელმთავრის წოდებაზე და სამხედრო სამსახურში შესულიყო, მან მტკიცე უარით უპასუხა, რისთვისაც სასტიკად სცემეს და საპყრობილეში ჩააგდეს. წმიდანმა საზრდელის მიღებაზე უარი განაცხადა. მაშინ მას ზღვაში დახრჩობა მიუსაჯეს. თეოგენმა დრო ითხოვა ლოცვისათვის. ლოცვისას კი ისე გაბრწყინდა, რომ მენავეები და ზოგი იმ მეომართაგანი, რომელთაც წმიდანის დახრჩობა ჰქონდა დავალებული, ქრისტიანობაზე მოექცნენ, სხვებმა მაინც მოახერხეს მისი ზღვაში გადაგდება. ეს მოხდა 320 წელს. მოგვიანებით ქრისტიანებმა წყლიდან გამოასვენეს მღვდელმთავრის უხრწნელი ცხედარი და ქალაქის გალავანთან დაკრძალეს. აქ შემდგომში უამრავი კურნება აღესრულებოდა.
