VIII საუკუნეში იერუსალიმის შემოგარენს ხშირად ესხმოდნენ თავს სარკინოზები. მუდმივი თარეშის შემდეგ დაინგრა და გაუდაბურდა წმიდა ხარიტონის მონასტერი. უსჯულოები ორჯერ შეეცადნენ დაერბიათ წმიდა საბა განწმენდილის ლავრა, მაგრამ ღმერთი იფარავდა სავანეს. ლავრის ბერებს შეეძლოთ იერუსალიმისათვის შეეფარებინათ თავი, მაგრამ ვერ დატოვეს ადგილი, სადაც წლების განმავლობაში განიწმინდეს სული და შეიგრძნეს უფლის მადლი.
