ღირსი გერასიმე, რომელიც იყო იორდანეს (+475), წარმოშობით ლიკიიდან (მცირე აზია) იყო. ბერად აღკვეცის შემდეგ იგი თებაიდის (ეგვიპტე) უდაბნოში განმარტოვდა, დაახლოებით 450 წელს კი, პალესტინაში ჩამოვიდა და იორდანეს ნაპირას მონასტერი დააარსა.
