ღირსი ევსტათე, ახოვანი მოსაგრე და კეთილი მოძღვარი, საყოველთაო სიყვარულით სარგებლობდა იგი. მალე მონასტრის იღუმენად აირჩიეს. რამდენიმე წლის შემდეგ წმიდანს ეპისკოპოსად დაასხეს ხელი. თბილად მიიღო სამწყსომ მდიდარი სულიერი გამოცდილების მქონე, ასკეტური ცხოვრებით გამორჩეული მღვდელმთავარი.
