ღირსი ევარესტი გალატიაში დაიბადა, დიდგვაროვანთა ოჯახში. იგი სიყმაწვილიდანვე ესწრაფოდა მონაზვნურ ცხოვრებას, განსაკუთრებით წმიდა ეფრემ ასურის წიგნების კითხვა უყვარდა. ბოლოს ნეტარმა სტუდიონის მონასტერს მიაშურა და იქ განაგრძო მოღვაწეობა. უფლის რჩეული მშვიდობით მიიცვალა 825 წელს, სამოცდათხუთმეტი წლის ასაკში. დაკრძალეს კონსტანტინოპოლში, მის მიერვე დაარსებულ კოკოროვიის სავანეში.
