წმიდა სოფრონი, კვიპრელი მთავარეპისკოპოსი ქრისტიანულ ოჯახში დაიბადა, კუნძულ კვიპროსზე. იგი მრავალ მეცნიერებას დაეუფლა, მაგრამ ყველაზე მაღლა წმიდა წერილს აყენებდა. უფლის რჩეული გამოირჩეოდა კეთილმსახურებით, გლახაკთმოყვარეობით და ასკეტური ცხოვრებით, რის გამოც უფლისგან სასწაულთქმედების ნიჭი მიემადლა. კვიპროსის ეპისკოპოსის, წმიდა დამიანეს გარდაცვალების შემდეგ მთელი ხალხის სურვილით დაქვრივებულ კათედრაზე ღირსი სოფრონი აღასაყდრეს. ახალ ხარისხში იგი ბრძნულად და სიყვარულით განაგებდა თავის სამწყსოს. გარდაიცვალა VI საუკუნეში.
