Alban était un noble Anglais. Durant une persécution, il cacha un prêtre Chrétien dans sa demeure, et se vit enseigner par ce dernier la Foi en Christ. Alban échangea ses vêtements avec ceux du prêtre et se rendit aux bourreaux. Condamné à mort, il convertit son bourreau à la Foi en Christ.
