Saint Michel était un Russe de famille princière. Il simula la folie afin de cacher ses vertus au monde, et pour éviter les louanges des hommes. C'est ainsi qu'il se prépara la louange devant Dieu. Il mourrut en 1453 dans le monastère de Klops, près de Novgorod, où ses reliques reposent.
