Un des « Pères du désert » qui voulut imiter le Prophète Elie et Jean le Précurseur. Durant la grande persécution, alors que beaucoup de chrétiens se réfugiaient au désert, il s'en vint à Alexandrie pour confesser sa foi en Jésus-Christ.
