Atît Sfîntul Vasile cît si Sfîntul Theodor au murit de morti naprasnice, cauzate de hulpavul cneaz Istislav, la anul 1098. Hagiografia Sfîntului Theodor este cu deosebire instructiva, din ea vazîndu-se cît de cumplit îl tiranizeaza pe om patima iubirii de arginti. Sfîntul Theodor fusese în lume un barbat extraordinar de bogat, dar acele bogatii imense el le împartise saracilor si se tunsese monah voind sa-si închine viata desavîrsit lui Dumnezeu. Dupa aceea însa lui a început sa îi para rau dupa bogatiile lui, începînd sa fie chinuit cumplit de demoni, din aceasta pricina. De chinul acesta el s-a ibavit prin rugaciunile si cu ajutorul Sfîntului Preacuvios Vasile.
