Studios a fost consul si patrician de frunte al slavtei cetati Constantinopole. El a întemeiat Biserica Sfîntului loan Botezatorul de lînga Portile de Aur, precum si mînastirea Studion, cea chemata dupa numele lui. Aceasta Sfînta Mînastire, numita si a Studitilor, s-a facut faimoasa pentru multii sfinti care au rasarit din ea, duhovnici vestiti, asceti si mucenici ai Credintei, dintre care cel mai mare este Sfîntul Teodor Studitul. Cruciatii latini au distrus aceasta sfînta mînastire la anul 1204, dar împaratul Constantin Paleologul Porfirogenetul a recladit-o din temelii la anul 1293. Astazi pe locul acestei sfinte si slavite mînastiri se ridica o moschee turceasca.
