Sfîntul Zosima acesta a fost soldat în armata romana în timpul împaratiei lui Traian. El a marturisit cu curaj Credinta lui Crestina în Hristos Domnul, fapta pentru care a fost dat la schingiuiri bestiale. Din mijlocul chinurilor lui, el a auzit un glas din cer care îi zice: împuterniceste-te, Zosime, cu semnul Sfintei Cruci, caci iata Eu cu tine sînt! La el în temnita pogorau îngerii lui Dumnezeu. Dupa multe chinuri de nedescris, Sfîntul Zosima a fost decapitat la anul 116 dupa Hristos.
