El a pastorit Biserica lui Dumnezeu de la Constantinopol între anii 980 si 995. El 1-a sfintit presbiter pe Sfîntul Simeon Noul Teolog, cînd acest urias al duhului a fost ridicat de catre obste egumen al Mînastirii Sfîntului Mamas de la Constantinopol. în vremea Sfîntului Nicolae Hrisoverghes s-a facut minunata aratare a Arhanghelului Gavriil de la Karyes [din Sfîntul Munte Athos]. Atunci i-a învatat Sfîntul Arhanghel Gavriil pe monahii athoniti cuvintele rugaciunii Cuvine-se cu adevarat.1 Acest mare si slavit ierarh s-a savîrsit cu pace catre Domnul, stramutîndu-se la locasurile cele ceresti ale împaratiei lui Hristos.
