Acest sfînt mucenic a fost soldat în cetatea Ankirei [Ankara de astazi]. Adus la judecata, lui nu i-a fost frica de chinuri, ci a laudat cu libertate Numele Stapînului Hristos. Comandantul Cornelius a poruncit sa se gaureasca gleznele mucenicului cu un sfredel, prin ele a trecut o sfoara tare, si asa 1-au tîrît pe omul lui Dumnezeu la un rîu, în care 1-au aruncat. Dar Dumnezeu 1-a mîntuit pre el dintru aceasta moarte, si a vindecat ranile lui. Astfel Eustatie a stat din nou înaintea judelui, deplin sanatos. Cînd judecatorul 1-a vazut viu si nevatamat înaintea ochilor pe cel pe care credea ca îl omorîse, s-a înspaimîntat atît de tare, încît si-a scos sabia si s-a înjunghiat cu ea. Sfîntul Eustatie a mai trait putin timp dupa aceea si a trecut la Domnul la anul 316.
