Sfîntul Miron a fost preot în cetatea Ahaiei. El a fost de origine nobila si foarte bogat, blînd si smerit cu purtarea, si iubitor de Dumnezeu si de oameni, în timpul domniei împaratului Decius, la Praznicul Nasterii Domnului, pagînii au navalit în biserica, 1-au însfacat cu barbarie pe Sfîntul Miron care atunci slujea, si 1-au torturat cu foc. în timp ce era astfel torturat a venit la el un înger al Domnului care 1-a întarit. Pagînii au început sa-i jupoaie pielea trupului, de la crestet pîna la calcîie. Mucenicul a apucat o astfel de curea din pielea propriului trup si 1-a lovit cu ea peste figura pe judecatorul-tortionar ce sedea înaintea lui. îndracindu-se, judecatorul Antipater a însfacat o sabie ce se afla la îndemîna si s-a strapuns cu ea, sinucigîndu-se. La urma pagînii 1-au dus pe Sfîntul Miron Presbiterul în cetatea Cizicului, si 1-au omorît acolo cu sabia, la anul 250.
