Acest cuvios Cosma a fost monah în Lavra Faranului. El cunostea adînc Sfintele Scripturi. El a iubit atît de mult cuvintele Sfîntului Athanasie cel Mare, încît a zis ucenicilor lui: «De nu veti avea la voi hîrtie ca sa scrieti cuvitele acestui Mare Parinte atunci cînd le veti auzi, atunci sa le scrieti pe batistele voastre.» La vîrsta adîncilor lui batrîneti, Sfîntul Cosma a mers la Antiohia, ca sa îl cerceteze pe Patriarhul Grigorie [care a murit la anul 584], si acolo s-a savîrsit cu pace dintru aceasta viata. Patriarhul a poruncit ca trupul Sfîntului Cosma sa se înmormînteze în biserica patriarhiei. Acolo, un anume om cu deosebire venea mereu la racla Sfîntului Cosma, cinstindu-1 pe sfînt si rugîndu-se acolo lui Dumnezeu. Cînd 1-au întrebat de ce face acestea, el le-a dezvaluit ca fusese paralizat timp de doisprezece ani, si ca vindecarea a primit-o de la Sfîntul Cuvios Cosma.
