Acest sfînt Cornelie a fost tuns monah la vîrsta de cincisprezece ani de catre un batrîn cuvios pe nume Pavel. El s-a retras în cele din urma în pustie, în vietuirea deplinei taceri. Cornelie a vietuit la liniste timp de treizeci de ani, negraind nici macar un singur cuvînt catre nimeni, astfel încît multi au crezut ca este mut. Trupul lui s-a uscat atît de mult cu postirile, încît aparea ca un schelet, înaintea iesirii lui, el a primit sfinta si marea schima, si a aflat odihna în Domnul în douazeci si doua de zile ale lunii iulie, din anul 1693.
