Acest monah în viata lui fusese lenes la vietuirea cea monahiceasca, la postiri, nevointe si rugaciune; dar de-a lungul întregii lui vieti el nu a judecat niciodata pe nimeni. Astfel, apropierea ceasului mortii 1-a gasit vesel si linistit. Cînd fratii cei strînsi în jurul lui 1-au întrebat cum se face ca este atît de linistit cînd si-a adunat în viata lui atîta multime de pacate, el le-a zis: „Credeti-ma, fratilor, iata acum îi vad pe îngeri cum tin scrisoarea pe care stau scrise multele mele pacate. Dar eu le zic lor, asa zice Domnul: Nu judecati si nu veti fi judecati; nu osînditi si nu veti fi osînditi; iertati si veti fi iertati (Luca, 6: 37). Si iata eu în zilele mele niciodata nu am judecat pe nimeni, si cred milei si cuvîntului Domnului meu ca nici eu nu voi fi judecat. Si atunci îi vad pe îngeri cum rup scrisoarea." Auzind aceasta, fratii s-au minunat, mult folosindu-se.
