Acest sfînt Grigorie a fost de neam armean. El a fost staretul Mînastirii Faranite de sub Muntele Sinai. Cînd Preafericitul Anastasie a fost surghiunit din tronul sau patriarhal, acest Grigorie, în pofida vointei lui, a fost instalat Patriarh al Antiohiei. Preafericitul Patriarh Sofronie [si Sfîntul loan Moshu] povestesc si ei cu multa dragoste despre acest Grigorie în scrierea Livada Darurilor. Sfmtul Grigorie facea mari si minunate milostenii fata de saraci, si mai ales fata de cei pacatosi. El a adormit cu pace la anul 593.
